But D I schools aren't all they are cracked up to be. The process at a DI school is give the kids the work and see who can handle it, those who do succeed those who don't are off the team or get hurt. They can afford to do this because most get a lot of recruits. But in a D II school, you are much more valuable. it is a much better environment to improve. And don't think that DI coaches are that much better than other division coaches. There are three main methods used by smart coaches to improve runners, there aren't many secrets. So what I'm saying is don't be afraid to go to a good D II school. I ran a 4:32 in college and didn't even get recruit's by any one. I walked on to a DIV II school and improved my time to 4:13 in 3 years. If you really wan to know i can tell you where i went. I've known people i lost to at states who went to DI schools nearby. I've become better than two and closed the gap substantially on all. In response to your grades, schools usually look at SAT scores more than GPA. Scholarships are limited so most people get a split, usually 1/2. To go to a Dl school you are going to need to run a sub 4:15. You can always go to a Dll school with slower times.
