How do cat breeders feel about selling purebred kittens to young college students?

I’m considering buying an exotic shorthair kitten, but I’m not sure how breeders feel about selling their expensive kittens to a sophomore in college who lives in a studio apartment.
I have the money to reasonably take good care of this potential kitten, and she or he would be very well loved, but I’m not sure what I’ll be up against with breeders.
Especially helpful would be the thoughts of actual cat breeders.
